The Amasaman Circuit Court has sentenced 35-year-old Daniel Darkwa to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to defiling a 13-year-old girl at his home in Amasaman.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 7, 2025, when the victim passed through the area to greet her grandmother, who lives in the same neighbourhood. Darkwa, who was known to the victim’s family, lured the girl into his room and had sexual intercourse with her.
After the act, he gave the victim GH¢10 and allowed her to go to school. The girl later confided in her teacher about the ordeal. School authorities immediately informed her mother, who filed an official complaint, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
During court proceedings, Daniel Darkwa admitted to the offense. The presiding judge found him guilty and handed down the 15-year custodial sentence, describing the act as a grave violation of a minor’s rights.
