The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, is expected to present the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The presentation, which will be in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution, will outline the government’s fiscal strategy, revenue and expenditure estimates, and policy priorities for the year ending December 31, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, when he presented the Business Statement for the week ending Friday, November 14, 2025, to the House.
He informed Members of Parliament that the Minister of Finance would appear before the House to deliver the government’s comprehensive economic policy for the 2026 financial year.
According to the Business Committee, the 2026 Budget is expected to focus on economic recovery, job creation, inflation control, debt management, and social welfare initiatives, following Ghana’s ongoing fiscal reforms and International Monetary Fund (IMF) support programme.
The Majority Leader also disclosed that, ahead of the budget presentation, about 300 referrals have been made to 23 parliamentary committees for consideration and reporting.
This is part of the preparatory work required to facilitate a smooth debate on the budget after its presentation.In addition, five sector ministers are expected to appear before Parliament during the week to respond to 28 questions from Members of Parliament on issues relating to governance, finance, and social development.
The 2026 Budget Presentation is expected to draw national attention, as it will highlight the government’s strategies to promote growth, enhance domestic revenue mobilization, and sustain macroeconomic stability amid global and local economic pressures.
Economic analysts, business leaders, and civil society organizations are keenly anticipating the budget, which will set the tone for Ghana’s economic direction in the coming year.
