A senior staff member of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, has formally petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to remove the EC Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa and her two deputies, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey.
The petition, submitted on November 24, 2025, invokes Article 146 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution — the provision that governs the removal of heads of independent constitutional bodies.
Adumadzie claims there are 12 counts of misbehaviour against the three EC leaders. Among the allegations are cronyism, abuse of office, and gross incompetence, which he argues have eroded public confidence in the Commission and pose a threat to the integrity of Ghana’s electoral system.
He is calling on President Mahama to refer the matter to the Chief Justice to determine whether the allegations amount to a prima facie case, as required under the constitutional procedure.
